Clash of Clans Hero Pets Overview
Hero pets were introduced in Clash of Clans during the Spring 2021 update. These new units require players to upgrade to Town Hall 14 to unlock the Pet House. Here, you can manage, upgrade, and assign these pets to your heroes for enhanced gameplay.
Upon reaching Town Hall level 14, players can access a new structure called the Pet House. This building unlocks the first pet, L.A.S.S.I., and as you enhance the Pet House, additional pets become available for use. Players can also upgrade their pets by utilizing magic items, which improves their skills and boosts their overall statistics.
Clash of Clans: A Guide to Pets and Their Abilities
In Clash of Clans, there are ten unique pets that players can pair with their heroes and enhance in various ways. Here's a quick summary of each pet:
1. L.A.S.S.I. Overview
Upon completion of the pet house, players will unlock L.A.S.S.I. as the first pet. This ground unit is designed to focus on the hero within a close range of 2.5 tiles. L.A.S.S.I. is one of the swiftest units in the game, boasting a movement speed of 32, comparable to that of a headhunter or a goblin. She can leap over walls, akin to the abilities of a hog rider, allowing her to strike targets such as the Barbarian King, even if he is shielded behind a wall.
Despite having moderate hitpoints, L.A.S.S.I.'s rapid movement enables her to infiltrate deeper into enemy territory than nearby heroes or troops, which unfortunately increases her exposure to enemy fire. With the highest damage-per-second (DPS) among all pet units, she significantly enhances the hero's offensive capabilities. In a knockout scenario, L.A.S.S.I. will prioritize attacking the nearest building while still operational.
2. Electro Owl Overview
Upon upgrading the pet house to level 2, players will gain access to the Electro Owl. This pet has a unique attack known as chain lightning, similar to the attack of the electro dragon, but it can hit an additional target for 80% of the original damage.
The range of the Electro Owl's attack is influenced by the hero it accompanies: it can strike from 1 tile away when near the Barbarian King, 5 tiles from the Archer Queen, and up to 7 tiles from the Grand Warden.
Interestingly, the Electro Owl targets the same enemy as its paired hero. However, if matched with a ground hero, it may be quickly defeated due to its lower hit points, making it susceptible to air defenses. Additionally, if the Electro Owl is knocked out while its hero is still active, it will redirect its attack towards that hero.
3. Mighty Yak Overview
Upon reaching level 3 in the pet house, players can unlock the formidable Mighty Yak. This companion boasts impressive hit points, comparable to a low-tier golem, yet falls short in terms of damage output, recording the lowest DPS among its peers. However, its capability to break through walls surpasses that of a fully upgraded level one wallbreaker, delivering an astounding 20 times the damage. This wall-busting ability makes the mighty yak an excellent partner for heroes like the barbarian king and archer queen, allowing them to navigate barriers swiftly.
Originally, the mighty yak was designed to inflict splash damage upon weaker troops, such as ground skeletons. However, following the update in September 2021, its attack now focuses on a single target. If the yak remains active after its hero is defeated, it will continue to engage the nearest opponent for a duration of 8 seconds, entering an enraged state that boosts both its speed and damage output.
4. Unicorn Overview
Upon upgrading your pet house to level 4, you'll gain access to the Unicorn, a unique pet that specializes in healing heroes while they are on the battlefield. Unlike traditional healers that are limited to ground units, the unicorn has the ability to heal both aerial and terrestrial troops.
One notable advantage of the unicorn is its exclusive healing abilities, which are focused solely on the assigned hero. This means there's no need to switch units like you would with standard healers. And similar to the l.a.s.s.i, the unicorn can leap over walls, ensuring it stays close to heroes like the grand warden and royal champion for continuous support. However, it's important to note that the unicorn has the lowest hit points among all pets, making it vulnerable if not adequately defended.
Additionally, with a healing range of 2.5 tiles, the unicorn tends to stay nearer to its hero compared to other healers. This proximity can expose it to risks from scattershot attacks and multi-target inferno towers, so strategic placement and protection are essential. Certain heroes in the game, such as the Archer Queen and Royal Champion, possess a sluggish movement speed. When players utilize these characters, it often leads to a situation where catching up with them takes time, causing delays in their healing process. If a hero is taken out and the Unicorn remains active, it will redirect its healing abilities to other units.
5. Frosty Overview
Frosty becomes available once the Pet House reaches level 5, which requires Town Hall 15. His distinctive ability allows him to spawn Frostmites that inflict minor damage while slowing down enemy troops and buildings. These Frostmites primarily focus on defensive structures and continue to assist Frosty's hero, even while facing attacks. Additionally, Frosty has the capability to slow down his targets with his frosty breath.
Frosty, while delicate, synergizes effectively with powerful heroes such as the Grand Warden for enhanced support, or the Barbarian King for durability. His frost ability is particularly advantageous when facing high-damage defenses like the Monolith. It's important to note that Frosty cannot reset Inferno Towers, so it's advisable to complement him with freeze or lightning spells for optimal results.
6. Diggy Overview
Unlocking Diggy requires reaching pet house level 6, which is available at Town Hall 15. Similar to the miner, Diggy can tunnel underground to bypass walls and stuns defensive structures when he emerges. Should his allied hero fall in battle, Diggy will redirect his efforts to target a new hero or nearby structures. Diggy's ability to stun makes him particularly effective against formidable defenses, complementing the Royal Champion, who also focuses on defense strategies.
While Diggy showcases greater versatility compared to L.A.S.S.I, his burrowing ability can inadvertently place the hero he's paired with in jeopardy. Additionally, with his considerable health, he acts as a minor tank, ranking just behind the formidable Yak.
7. Poison Lizard Overview
Unlockable at Pet House Level 7, the Poison Lizard inflicts area damage to enemy heroes and clan castle troops within a radius of 6.5 tiles. Its poison effect not only damages but also slows down opponents over time, similar to the classic poison spell. This makes the Poison Lizard an excellent companion for tackling clusters of defending troops while simultaneously undermining enemy heroes. Once it has dealt with its main targets, it will redirect its attack to the nearest building.
To enhance the damage output of the poison lizard, it's effective to pair it with characters such as the Barbarian King or Archer Queen. This strategy allows the poison lizard to efficiently deal with enemy troops while your hero addresses more significant threats. And to counter the poison lizard, consider utilizing traps like the tornado or poison spell tower. These can effectively hinder its movement and inflict steady damage.
8. Phoenix Overview
Once you reach pet house level 8, the Phoenix becomes available. This pet excels in dealing high single-target damage, particularly against defending heroes such as the Barbarian King and Archer Queen. Its special ability enhances its damage during battles, making it a formidable option for confronting enemy heroes. Additionally, the Phoenix can engage both ground and air units, providing flexibility across various combat scenarios.
To maximize the potential of the phoenix, it's advisable to team it up with a hero that boasts high health. This combination will allow for swift elimination of enemy heroes. However, caution is warranted due to the phoenix's susceptibility to splash damage. Anticipating and addressing splash damage or aerial defenses is crucial, necessitating strategic planning.
9. Spirit Fox Overview
Available once the pet house reaches level 9, the Spirit Fox is a nimble pet that zeroes in on enemy heroes and defensive troops. Its unique ability enhances the damage output of nearby allies, making it an effective support option, particularly alongside powerful units like barbarians or archers. The spirit fox's agility enables it to rapidly bridge the distance to adversaries, inflicting damage on any threats in close proximity. This companion shines when it comes to bolstering your primary forces and heroes, offering a significant increase in damage output.
However, being a ground unit, it is susceptible to air attacks, so placement on the battlefield should be done with care. To effectively counter the spirit fox, implement air defenses that can thwart its strikes on ground troops.
10. Furious Jelly Overview
Furious Jelly becomes available once the pet house reaches level 10 and is designed to inflict area damage on opposing forces. Unlike other pets that focus on structures, Furious Jelly is adept at eliminating tightly grouped enemy units. Its area-damage capability makes it an excellent support option for dismantling large clusters of foes. While the game doesn't concentrate on heroes or structures, its capacity to eliminate enemy forces makes it an essential part of your combat lineup.
Utilizing angry jelly in skirmishes is particularly effective when combined with swarming troops or units that thrive on area damage. Nevertheless, it can be susceptible to splash damage defenses, so it's wise to accompany it with other units for added protection. Defenses such as wizard towers or mortars can effectively counter the area-damage approach of angry jelly.
Optimal Pet-Hero Combinations in Clash of Clans
In the latest update of Clash of Clans, players now have the option to integrate pet companions with their heroes, allowing for more strategic gameplay. However, many users find themselves uncertain about the optimal pet-hero combinations. Fortunately, the choices aren't overwhelming, and for those not deeply refining their assaults or playing at a high tier, the selection remains manageable.
1. L.A.S.S.I & Royal Champion
When pairing a pet with the Royal Champion, it's crucial to choose one that is agile and capable of vaulting over walls, as the Royal Champion moves rapidly. L.A.S.S.I excels in this role not only due to its speed but also because the closer the target is, the longer L.A.S.S.I stays near the Royal Champion. This pairing produces excellent results regardless of your chosen attack method.
2. Electro Own & Grand Warden
The Electro Owl faces a significant challenge due to its inability to out-range any air defense. Once it comes under the attack of such defenses, it quickly becomes vulnerable and is likely to be lost. However, when paired with the Grand Warden, the Electro Owl can navigate tricky situations far more effectively, increasing its chances of survival for a longer duration.
And when the Electro Owl teams up with heroes like the Barbarian King or the Archer Queen, it tends to stay at the heart of the battlefield, making it more susceptible to air defenses. While there are scenarios, particularly during air assaults where the owl can be shielded by a cluster of balloons, the Grand Warden typically remains the preferred choice in most circumstances.
3. Mighty Yak & Archer Queen
When planning a strategy involving a queen walk or queen charge, the Mighty Yak stands out as an exceptional option. This is primarily due to the yak's ability to inflict extra damage on walls, which allows the queen to navigate the battlefield without the hindrance of barriers. As the queen targets a structure surrounded by walls, the yak will start breaking through these defenses, paving a clear path for the queen to advance deeper into the enemy territory.
4. Unicorn & Barbarian King
Lastly, combining the Unicorn with the Barbarian King yields impressive results. Given the aforementioned reasons, the King, paired with the Archer Queen, is the optimal choice. In an attack scenario, the King often circles the base and stays alive, while the Unicorn's healing barely offsets the damage from a single defense, thereby prolonging the King's survival. And the King's substantial hit points also accommodate slower healing, which allows you to focus on other aspects of the game without constantly checking on him.
Summary
To summarize, the introduction of hero pets in Clash of Clans provided players with the opportunity to enhance their heroes' abilities by pairing them with unique companions. Each pet brings distinct advantages to the battlefield, and the game features a diverse list of these pets, including L.A.S.S.I, Electro Owl, The Mighty Yak, Unicorn, and more. Players can optimize their strategies by exploring various hero and pet combinations, such as pairing L.A.S.S.I with the Royal Champion or using Electro Owl alongside the Grand Warden. These combinations can significantly impact gameplay dynamics and outcomes. To enjoy the best audio-visual performance, we recommend playing Genshin Impact on Mac with MuMuPlayer Pro!
